Founded in 1923, the Ellensburg Rodeo, aired on ESPN, brings in more than 25,000 fans over a four-day period. Rodeo professionals from across the country make sure they don’t miss our rodeo, with its purse in excess of $250,000.

Insider info: A recent addition to the rodeo, Xtreme Bulls, has become a sell-out event loved by even the most unfamiliar of rodeo fans. Filled with tough bull riders, surly bulls and pyrotechnics, Xtreme Bulls attracts some top-of-the line competitors. It’s an event you should not miss, and most locals say you haven’t really seen Ellensburg until you’ve been to the rodeo.

A few tidbits on the rodeo:

• Make hotel reservations in advance for this weekend. All lodging in the county fills up quickly for the Labor Day weekend.
• Tickets to several of the shows also sell out, so make sure to purchase them early.
• Parking in the area can be tricky, so make sure to check signage. Many residential areas around the arena are permit only.
• Be sure to check out the newly-added Western Village, where you’ll find lots of treats, beer, memorabilia and more.
