Lake Easton State Park

Olmstead Place State Park

Olmstead Place is located on 217 acres and is the site of the first Kittitas Valley homestead. It has one mile of hiking, freshwater fishing, a museum, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. There are also 17 picnic tables, which can be reserved by calling (509) 925-1943. Hours are from 6:30 a.m. to dusk in the summer, and from 8 a.m. to dusk in winter.

Ginkgo Petrified Forest/Wanapum Recreational Area

The Ginkgo Petrified Forest/Wanapum Recreational Area is 30 miles east of Ellensburg, along the shores of the Columbia River, and situated on 7,470 acres. It is open to camping and day use on weekends and holidays. The expansive park has three miles of hiking, freshwater fishing, a boat ramp, waterskiing, and a museum. There are also 57 picnic tables, which are on a first-come basis. They tend to fill up quickly during the summer Gorge Amphitheatre concert season. It is open from 6:30 a.m. to dusk in summer, and from 8 a.m. to dusk in winter.
