Three Fun Events in Ellensburg, Summer 2021

After a year of lockdown, events are finally starting up again. Ellensburg has some great events on tap this summer.

Get out and have fun in Ellensburg!

Jazz in the Valley

For jazz lovers, head over Snqoualmie Pass this weekend for the 23rd Annual Jazz in the Valley festival with seven bands playing at great venues in downtown Ellensburg: The Red Pickle (outside with food service inside), The Pearl Bar and Grill (music in the back bar, food in the restaurant), the Top of the Burg rooftop bar at the Hotel Windrow with food, drink and music on the roof and in the lobby and Rotary Pavilion. The music goes from 5-10 pm on Friday, 7/30, and from 11 am-10pm on Saturday, 7/31.

Ellensburg Rodeo and Kittitas County Fair

Labor Day weekend, head back to Ellensburg for the Ellensburg Rodeo, which has been going for almost 100 years, and the Kittitas County Fair. The fair kicks off on 9/2 and the rodeo starts on 9/3. Rodeo events include Best of the Best Roping on 9/1, dancing and music in the Rodeo Arena on 9/2 (tickets to the dance include same-day entry to the fair), Xtreme Bulls roping on 9/4 and the main rodeo events from Saturday-Monday. The fair includes animals, crafts, great food, rides, and a carnival. One of my favorite places to visit during the fair is the Frontier Village: a collection of early settler cabins, a store, and a school house that have been relocated to the fairgrounds. Volunteers will be there to talk about what it was like to live and learn in the Kittitas Valley in the late 19th and early 20th century. Visitors can buy penny candy from the store, try their hand panning for gold or sawing logs, and see what it was like inside the early cabins.

Buskers in the Burg

If you are looking for something a little different, swing over to Ellensburg September 24th and 25th for the annual Buskers in the Burg.
